Around here, it gets very cold in the winter. And very windy. :[
I wear these boots to the barn all the time in the winter, and I’ve never had cold feet. I’ve had them for 2 years and they’re still in great condition.
They are insulated and have a warm lining, the top is kind of stretchy. So they fit snug to my legs, but I can easily tuck my pants into my boots. I even put my phone in my boot when I’m riding.
Ugh, your weather sounds a lot like mine. I havea pair of Mountain Horse tall winter boots that I like a lot. They were very warm and waterproof too, and they were safe to ride in (i.e. the foot and heel were the same as a dress boot). The top part is also easily adjustable, so if you’re wearing more than one layer on your bottom half, you won’t have to try and stuff them into your boot.
As for cheaper Underarmor…the only think I can think of is regular old thermals!
Mountain Horse is usually the first thing that comes to mind…however, I find Mountain Horse’s products to be waayy too thick/chunky and I’d be afraid my foot would get caught in the stirrup.
I personally would go with the Ariat Arctic Lace or the Ariat Bromont Tall H20. I’ve had that Arctic Lace for about 5 or so years now and have held up well…I have only had to replace the laces (because my kitten chewed them off). They keep my feet nice and toasty warm (with layered socks…just like with any type of boot in the winter!) and it can get to be -35 celcius with the windchill (especially at night) easily where I live.
